I'm delighted to announce that Martry Mill, along with Gerard Meade are joining their experience and knowledge to create a unique tour for visitors to Ireland.
Beginning this April, we will be welcoming tours to Martry Mill for a new unique, fun and informative tour of the mill along with a cookery demonstration and food tasting.
Food is intrinsically intertwined with a country's culture and we're really excited to showcase Ireland's culinary culture and history through these world-renowned dishes and show how to make them from scratch.
On cookery demonstration and tasting, will include the following traditional dishes:
As well as tasting the eel, stew and bacon and cabbage, visitors will be taught how to make (and drink!) their own Irish coffee which using a local whiskey, Slane Castle Whiskey.
Gerard Meade is one of Ireland’s leading chefs. He has over thirty-five years of experience from within Ireland and around the world as a professional chef, manager, business owner, restaurant inspector, and food writer. He is currently an independent hospitality, tourism and food consultant where he advises dozens of food businesses setting up or improving their operation. He has also been a cookery instructor, both to industry and the public since 2003. He trained in Ireland in the 1980s and has worked as a chef in France, England, Australia, Belgium, and Canada. He is the son of a farmer from just outside Navan and is passionate about Irish food and the history and cultural value associated with it.
